Evolution of Mobile App Development

The very first handheld mobile phone was invented in the year 1973. After twenty years after the first invented mobile phone, the era of the modern phone started in 1993 by IBM. IBM Simon was the first phone to have a touch screen and basic built-in applications like contacts and calendars.

In the early year of 2002, a brand named Blackberry came up with a device named Blackberry 5810. This device software was based on Java. It changed the market of mobile phones by providing features like connected wireless email and some inbuilt apps. Java became this generation's primary language for app development on Android devices.

The next big change came in 2008 when big companies like Apple and Google launched their own app store. Since then, the mobile application market has skyrocketed, making huge profits. And also fame for various companies around the world.

Advancement of Mobile Technology

Since Apple's initial 2008 introduction of the App Store, which had about 500 applications, the app markets for mobile phones have developed and prospered. Here are some trends that hyped the app development:

Digital Assistant

Digital assistant enables a user to use their phones in hands-free mode. With a single voice command, they can perform the required task. From making a google search to ordering food, everything can be done with this technology. Some famous assistants are Siri, Alexa, Google and so on.

5G Technology

The fifth generation of mobile networks can be termed 5G. This is a recently developed global wireless standard with better performance and a stable network. Newer devices with supported processors can enjoy this technology, with higher data delivery, low latency, increased availability and better user experience.

Mobile e-Commerce Platform

The potential for e-Commerce enterprises is limitless. Today, more people than ever before are making purchases online. This assertion is accurate for all global industries.

With the help of the Internet, you may now connect with customers from any location and on any device. Apps like Amazon, Daraz, Meesho and so on are the best example of e-Commerce apps.

Augmented & Virtual Reality

Pokemon GO is the best example of this technology we all have come across. AR & VR has changed how people think about the future of Mobile phones and apps.

Today, however, AR and VR are more than just trendy terms in the digital sphere. These innovative technologies go well beyond entertainment and games. Applications for AR and VR have already been introduced into many businesses, ranging from e-Commerce and education to healthcare and construction.

Cloud-Based Application

Cloud-based applications run on external servers with the help of web browsers, just like a web app. Unlike web apps, cloud-based apps are not totally dependent upon web browsers.

The main advantage of such apps is they almost take up none of the device storage. Instead, all the data are stored on the server (Data Center). A good internet connection is required to get full use of it. Cloud apps are time efficient, support multi-platform, secure data storage & recovery, and perform better.

💡
On average, a single person has about 40 apps on their mobile phone.

Mobile Application Statistics (2022)

The rate of application production and development to date is massive.

  • Apple App Store has over 2.11 million apps available (IOS).
  • Google Play Store has over 3.3 million apps (Android).
  • An App is opened 50+ times per day by about 21% of Millennials.

Conclusion

It's incredible how mobile applications are improving thanks to new technology. The future seems promising and exciting, knowing there is more to come in this field.

The development of mobile applications appears to have no bounds or delay. Cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and blockchain continues to have an impact on mobile application development. The apps that power mobile devices take centre stage.

So, what is the future of mobile application development... ? Only time and evolving technology can tell that.
